Program Overview

VUCA Strategic Thinking is a one and half day customised program that focuses on mid to senior (executive) leaders. It provides a framework and tools to develop in-depth strategic thinking in daily decision-making practice with a focus on understanding and mitigating internal and external events that are Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous affecting the business reality. The workshop will include individual reflection, team and group discussions. Concepts and core themes shall be applied to the company’s related business challenges in order to emphasise the applicability of learning outcomes.
Core themes throughout the VUCA Strategic Thinking workshop will include:
 1. What is Strategic Thinking
 2. What is VUCA and how does it affect the business environment
 3. What is insight and foresight and how do we develop them
 4. How do we nurture intuitive capacity
 5. VUCA strategic thinking and mitigation of risks as a competitive advantage
Workshop participants will be able to:
 • Reflect on their strategic thinking capacity
 • Understand how we develop facts and insights
 • Experience how intuitive foresight can be nurtured and why it is crucial in a VUCA world
 • Apply different strategic thinking tools to ensure better quality decisions
 • Develop a VUCA strategic action plan for execution
 • Gain higher awareness how strategic thinking is different from strategy and needs to be daily practiced
Participants will need to come prepared wih especially materials that can cover:
  • Internal and external changes and events that are happening in the company and market space
  • Understanding of strategic positioning, objectives, vision and values of the company

Experience
Peter Buytaert builds on more than twenty five years of Global and Asia executive management, leadership and entrepreneurial experience. Peter specialises in creating platforms for global leadership selection, assessment and development. In addition to lecturing on change, corporate governance and Asia strategy, Peter is also co-founder and Chief Responsibility Officer of GLO – Good Leaders Online. He has been consulting and coaching on senior executive (CEO) level for the past 4 years including clients like Barco, Honeywell, Umicore, IBM, Sanofi, Johnson&Johnson, etc.
Previous to current roles, Peter served as Chairman for three consecutive years of the Benelux Chamber of Commerce (Bencham) of Shanghai. He is a truly global citizen with a unique track record in cross cultural people leadership, start-up and business strategy, as well as driving change in organisations across Asia and China in particular. Prior to his entrepreneurial career, Peter was responsible for Agfa Graphics regional sales and operations as its President Asia.
Before making Shanghai his base, he resided in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Seoul, with extensive project time spent in India.
